The Stand As My Witness (SAMW) campaign, launched by CIVICUS in July 2020, is a global solidarity initiative supporting human rights defenders (HRDs) who have been unjustly detained or prosecuted for their peaceful activism. Through collective advocacy, strategic partnerships and public campaigning, the campaign raises awareness of their cases, calls for their unconditional release and defends their fundamental rights. Through our partnerships and sustained advocacy efforts, we have contributed to the release of more than 31 human rights defenders, demonstrating the importance of collective action and international solidarity. Join us as we reflect on the campaign’s journey, celebrate its impact, hear from inspiring speakers and explore how we can continue standing with human rights defenders around the world.
