Cybersecurity risks for CSOs and non-profits can be significantly higher than for other entities due to their political exposure and lack of financial and technical resources. These risks can include data security issues, such as unauthorised access to sensitive personal data, and ransomware attacks for financial gain. Other risks relate to the use of third-party services, as well as to insider threats (whether intentional or accidental), which could result in reputational damage and have serious repercussions with regard to the organisation’s objectives and mandate, and lead to a loss of trust among clients, donors and the public at large.
 
This Digital Dialogue will consist of an expert panel examining two directly related and highly relevant aspects of cybersecurity for CSOs and non-profits. Firstly, how to manage an incident should one occur, and secondly, what lessons have been learned thus far that can inform the implementation of effective preventive measures.
 
The panel will address compliance issues and cover the entire incident management cycle, from detection and containment to eradication and recovery. A post-incident review will inform stronger prevention and preparedness measures.
 
This event will be of particular interest to civil society practitioners, as it will showcase a wide range of expertise and experiences.
