About the Event:

Over 125 countries worldwide have access to information laws, or similar provisions, granting access to government-held information. But there is a growing shift toward proactive disclosure, where governments publish information on their own initiative rather than in response to requests. When carried out in a meaningful way, proactive disclosure improves transparency, relevance, and accessibility of information, especially at a time when trust in institutions and information integrity is under pressure.

During the Open Gov Week, OGP is hosting an open workshop within the Proactive Disclosure Coalition’s activities, contributing to the consultation process for the OECD’s Good Practice Principles on proactive disclosure. The workshop will bring together civil society actors working on access to information on local, national, and international levels.

We’ll discuss practical experiences, challenges, and best practices of how governments are moving towards more meaningful proactive disclosure. The goal is to collect evidence and case studies on what works in practice and what still needs to be improved.
