Central American civil society is experiencing a very serious crisis. However, the crisis provides us with an opportunity to reflect and explore other possibilities for the future of civil society in the region, incorporating ideas, experiments, and practices that have been generated in recent years. In particular, it is important to examine and reform civil society accountability in a more horizontal and dynamic manner to strengthen relationships, trust, and legitimacy for more diverse and coherent civic ecosystems.
