ChildFund New Zealand plants trees to ensure sustainable income and carbon offsetting

ChildFund New Zealand is committed to the principle of doing no harm as well as ensuring that their work is sustainable, appropriate, feasible, and empowering (SAFE), which includes protecting the environment as well as enhancing the natural environment of our places of work. For this reason, CFNZ tracks their carbon emissions, which includes travel to and from work, our work place energy, and travel for work both nationally and internationally. They then aim to plant trees in dedicated partner communities to offset these emissions.
Greenpeace’s advocacy is built on scientific research as well as stakeholder opinions

The Greenpeace International Science Unit at the University of Exeter identifies and communicates scientific information on the key issues Greenpeace is working on. Greenpeace also gathers input from experts in the field, and conducts situation and power analyses and audience assessments.
MIO-ECSDE’s consultative and comprehensive process to develop policy and advocacy positions

MIO-ECSDE has a sound and detailed process for the development of policy positions. The process is underpinned by ongoing monitoring of relevant research and policy developments to stay abreast of emerging issues. A draft position document is developed, then discussed in consultations with members, partners, experts, and other networks before being finalised. Policy products are disseminated widely, and their effectiveness and impact is monitored. Results are shared with the Secretariat and Executive Bureau to close the loop for further actions including corrections or adjustments.
Sightsavers’ approach to capacity-building

Several examples are provided of projects that have resulted in increased capacities and new skills for both direct beneficiaries as well as healthcare, educational and social work professionals in the communities Sightsavers works in.
A wide range of training aimed at building capacity of individuals is being provided, including daily living skills, mobility and orienteering, rights and entitlements, living skills, vocational training and economic empowerment.

Oxfam’s adaptive approach to campaigning design and implementation

A shared power analysis is developed with stakeholders at the outset of any campaign development, with all relevant stakeholders mapped and consulted in ways tailored to their particular needs. Internal stakeholders such as affiliate representatives might be engaged to help co-create the policy position; whereas with external stakeholders such as potential coalition allies they might share and adopt a common strategy; and with potential targets of their advocacy they might engage as sounding boards to informally check their objectives and key messages.
