CBM International has a dedicated Health, Safety and Security Unit which focuses on training and awareness building for staff. Initiatives include pre-departure travel briefings for business trips, mandatory traveller security training (with a dedicated topic on female security and sexual assault) and written resources available to all staff. A 24/7/365 telephone and email crisis hotline is available for staff to report any incidents and receive support in several languages.
CBM’s security training has responded to increasing numbers of terrorist attacks by including a training unit on surviving a shooting attack, and this incorporates a disability inclusion element. Each regional office and an increasing number of country offices have a dedicated security focal person.
45,000+ organizations operating in 180+ countries are using the Global Standard to guide their work and put people at the heart of their accountability measures. Now, the 10 cohosts are working to review and refresh the Standard to ensure its fit for the future too. If you work in or with civil society, and believe our accountability practice should center the people we work for and with, we want to hear from you.
