The Berlin-based Secretariat is held accountable by Accountable Now's Board of Trustees. The Articles of Association are the constitutional basis defining Accountable Now’s scope of work and govern the relationship between Accountable Now and the sector. By reviewing Member accountability reports, the Independent Review Panel (IRP) ensures the credibility and integrity of Accountable Now's work.

Rocio Moreno Lopez (she/her)

Executive Director

Rocio joined Accountable Now in January 2018 as Executive Director. Previously she worked on consultancy assignments on citizen participation, capacity building and impact evaluation in countries such as Kenya, Macedonia, Kazakhstan and Mexico for (amongst others) Open Society, MacArthur, Ford and Hewlett Foundations. Prior to that, she was Global Co-ordinator for the Global Movement for Budget Transparency, Accountability and Participation (BTAP), an organisation combining activists and organisations working on public finance and budget accountability, where she led member engagement strategy, coordinated advocacy strategy and built strategic partnerships with national and international organisations.

Elisa Lopez (she/her)

Programme Manager for the Global Standard for CSO Accountability

Elisa Lopez joined Accountable Now as Programme Officer to later become Programme Manager of the Global Standard for CSO Accountability. She has a background in sociology and political science, with a Masters in International Development and NGO Management. Elisa is currently a PhD Candidate in Innovation and Equality in Education, focusing on citizen participation.

Previously, she worked at Freedom House for the Latin America and Caribbean Team, for the Andalusian International Cooperation Agency in El Salvador and on other development projects in Colombia, Mexico and Portugal. She is a dynamic professional, particularly passionate about Latin America.

Mary Sprague (she/her)

Administrative and Communications Associate

Mary joined Accountable Now in January 2020 first as an Administrative Assistant, before later moving into Communications. She has an academic and professional background in urban development and design and a strong interest in citizen participation and building a more just and equitable world. Mary holds a Dual Masters in Urban Design from Brandenburg Technical University in Germany and Cairo University in Egypt. Before joining Accountable Now, Mary has worked for architecture and urban planning studios in Montreal, Tokyo, and Cairo on research, citizen engagement and participation, and design.

Bao Han Tran Le (she/her)

Membership and Reporting Coordinator


Bao Han Tran Le joined Accountable Now in September 2019 as Programme Officer of the Global Standard for CSO Accountability. Bao Han has a background in International Relations, with a Bachelor’s Degree from the London School of Economics and a Master’s in International Relations from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London.
Prior to joining Accountable Now, Bao Han worked for Youth United Foundation in London where she coordinated a network of 11 most prominent British youth charities. She also has experience interning with the AMAR Charitable Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support UK. She is passionate about the civil society space and equal opportunities.

Olivia Cox

Olivia joined the Accountable Now Team in March 2023 through the internship scheme offered at the University of Portsmouth. She is currently studying BA International Development which offers her an insight into the world of CSOs and Third Sector Society! Olivia took on the role at Accountable Now to expand her knowledge on the ways in which organisations are using Dynamic Accountability Processes  to deliver to their beneficiaries and stakeholders. Through her Deputy Chief Commissioner role at Girlguiding South West England, Olivia has experience in making sure an organisation sticks to its purpose and delivers on aims for a youth-led organisation. By being a young deputy, Olivia hopes to encourage further youth participation within the NGO and challenges perceptions of accountability through her learning on this internship.

Loveleen Kumari

As a final-year International Relations student at the University of Portsmouth, Loveleen is committed to making a positive impact in the world through research in the voluntary sector. She recently joined Accountable Now as a part-time placement student for the Research and Advocacy Assistant role, where she also assists Elisa Lopez with administrative and logistics tasks. With her studies in International Relations, she has gained a deep understanding of NGO accountability issues, fuelling her desire to pursue a career in research. Additionally, she has a background in Business and Administration and Business and Management studies, having completed a work placement with an international consulting company, Atheneum Partners, in Germany as a Junior Administrator in 2018. After finishing her undergraduate studies, she plans to pursue an MSc in International Development and a PhD to become an academic researcher and lecturer. Her long-term goal is to establish her own NGO and continue working towards improving the lives of others through global development methods and research.
