Welcome to Accountable Now's Accountability Pill Podcast - your minidose of CSO accountability

This episode is part of our miniseries on meaningful youth engagement

Global population in 2023 has surpassed 8 billion, and young people (under 30) currently represent approximately 52% of the global population with this number projected to grow in the coming decades. However, young people often face barriers to representation, participation and inclusion, limiting the ability of their voices to be heard. In this miniseries we feature conversations with young people speaking to young people about what meaningful engagement means to them, the barriers and challenges they face, and how civil society organisations (CSOs) can support young people to thrive.

In this episode:

In Part 6 of our Youth Engagement Series, Maniza and Amani chat about “Behind Closed Doors” – their recent co-authored report with Population Institute (read the report here). The report is a close examination of the damaging components and underlying factors of gender-based violence in the United States. Maniza and Amani share about their research process, being young researchers, and how their youth perspective positively shaped the report. They also highlight the voices of youth they listened to throughout their research, sharing how CSOs can support young people, especially young survivors of gender-based violence.
