Last year we had to quickly adapt our AGM to the pandemic context and within less than two months we recreated the event to be delivered completely virtually. We are acting upon member’s feedback to make an even better virtual AGM this year.

 

Over the past two years, Accountable Now has addressed the topic of Powershift in our yearly Annual Workshops. In our 2019 ‘Preparing for a Powershift’ workshop, we identified the underlying structural and systemic causes of power imbalances in the civil society sector. Colonialism, elitism and capitalism were among the many causes discussed and dissected.

 

Throughout the following year, as we continued to work with our members and partners, we pushed forward the conversation within our membership. Our 2020 workshop, ‘Rethinking and Rebuilding’ saw us pinpoint a key underlying cause of power imbalance in the civil society sector: institutional racism and colonialism

 

As we approach our AGM, we want to go deeper into these underlying causes. We want to take the discussions you are having with your colleagues and partners to understand how you are reflecting, changing or struggling to adapt. Dynamic accountability can play a key role in the Powershift, decolonisation and anti-racism efforts. Join us for our 2021 AGM and discover how.

Day 1: 9 June 12:00 – 15:00 (CEST) 

For the first day we will bring together members, Accountable Now staff and IRP members for a plenary discussion on decolonisation and anti-racism in the civil society sector. We will follow up the discussion with a networkshop where participants will work in smaller groups to explore how the 12 accountability commitments can address decolonisation and anti-racism in their work. 

 

We would like to extend the invitation to your national and local entities, and/or partners you work closely with, in particular, those with expertise and lived experience in the issues we will be discussing. We also encourage those in senior leadership positions to be invited. These discussions are important and relevant for everyone. If you would like to invite anyone to this session, please forward them this webpage or the registration email.

Day 2: 10 June 12:00 – 15:00 (CEST)

The second day will be dedicated to the usual AGM business and membership matters. Only members with voting rights are asked to attend the first session. As a full Member of Accountable Now, your organisation has a right to vote at Annual General Meetings. If more than one individual from your organisation will be joining, please let us know who will be voting on behalf of the organisation by getting in touch with Hector hpayo@accountablenow.org

 

As well as covering important member updates the last hour of Day 2 will provide an open peer support session. If you are facing any challenges related to implementing accountability practices in your organisation, struggling with any aspects of accountability reporting or would like to ask other members how they manage their accountability work then this will be the time to ask and share!
